8 Sparkly Details for your Winter Wonderland Wedding

It’s easy to think of spring as “wedding season” and to write off the rest of the year as "less-than-ideal" times to tie the knot. However, inspiration abounds for a winter wonderland wedding, sparkling with style & sophistication.

Confession: We love fall & winter weddings! So when Sherrie, an actual Laura Jayne bride, shared her photo gallery with us, it was love at first sight!

Sherrie & Adam’s elegant holiday wedding at The Doctor's House in Kleinburg, Ontario was one for the ages. It combined winter's festive spirit with the perfect amount of rustic charm for an intimate celebration.  The season itself lends so much to the wedding planning details so it’s hard not to get inspo overload!

Enjoy all the pretty images from Sherrie’s wedding as we share eight of our favorite ways to add sparkle & sophistication to your big day.

1. Go mad for metallics

Whether it’s silver, gold or rose gold that has your heart, they all go great with winter wedding plans. Think of how you add a great silver stiletto, clutch or earrings to take your fave LBD from the office to cocktails. Metallics will do the same at your wedding & are so on point for the holidays!

Sherrie’s bridesmaids wore elegant ivory chiffon gowns with lace bodices dusted with gold sequins. Soft golds were also worked into the décor with lushly upholstered chairs at the head table and elegant calligraphic place cards.

There are endless ways to incorporate metallics into your wedding details. Don't forget about accents or ribbons on bouquets, table settings, and cakes. Not to mention accessory options for the bride & her tribe! Add some glam with shoes, bags, hair accessories & jewelry.

2. Let the (twinkle) lights shine

Ever notice how the world seems to sparkle with freshly fallen snow? Lighting can play a key role in your winter wedding planning. Candles, twinkle lights, chandeliers, centerpieces- all can add a beautiful warmth & glow.

Sherrie chose simple, elegant Voluspa tea lights surrounded with the rustic charm of evergreen boughs for her centerpieces. Chic lanterns bedecked with ribbons & evergreens added a warm detail at the church.

3. 'Tis the season for winter florals

Greens are a natural choice for winter weddings, but whites are also an elegant option when the world is blanketed in sparkling snow. Add pretty metallic details or pops of colour (reds are an obvious choice, but other jewel tones are equally nice to add opulence & glam factor).

Sherrie used her florals to convey both her Old Hollywood glam bride style – elegant hand-tied white roses with greens; and the warm rustic charm of the setting- baby’s breath bouquets and crowns for the bridal party were suggestive of evergreens lightly dusted with a fresh snowfall.

4. Warm up with sparkling sips

There's nothing better than a festive cocktail to get your guests warmed up. We love sleek & sophisticated flutes of bubbly for an evening winter wedding. Plus, there are limitless options to create your own sparkling signature drink!

Round out the flavor with seasonal garnishes like rosemary sprigs, cranberries…cinnamon sticks. Part of the fun is dreaming up (and, ahem, taste-testing) your signature sip(s), then you get to come up with a great name!

5. Embrace feather & faux fur

As fluffy as fresh snow, faux fur or feathers complement winter weather. They remind us of the warmth and coziness we all look forward to when coming in from the cold. Whether as a luxurious accent in décor, or an opulent touch for fashion, we love it!

Think whimsical feather flourishes on floral garlands and center pieces, or a beautiful faux fur throw draped over the newlyweds for outdoor portraits. Tie it all together with the accessories, like Sherrie’s gorgeous cape and bridesmaid’s muffs.

6. Create a winter vignette photo opp

Photo booths are a definite fan favourite at weddings, and we love Sherrie’s creative spin on the trend. She used a charming rustic branch arch with tulle & twinkle lights that her guests adored. Treat your guest to some fun at the wedding and a pretty holiday card winter vignette for next year!

7. Channel your inner winter princess

Of course, we’re all about #accessorylovestories and helping your realize your bride style! Festive holiday theme? Opulent evening style? What about a whimsical, boho snow princess? Whatever the mood of your winter wedding, the right accessories & styling will serve to amp up the vibe!

Sherrie wanted to juxtapose vintage Hollywood glam with the rustic winter village charm of The Doctor’s House venue. She accomplished this by choosing a simple, sleek silhouette Mikaella Bridal bridal gown with subtle vintage details like delicately beaded spaghetti straps and lightly textured lace.

A sparkling vintage finish profile comb for her Hollywood Glam hairstyle, along with crystal & pearl stiletto earrings. She finished the look with a slightly bouffant fingertip veil worn at the crown for a little extra lift, beautifully balancing the pared-down neckline of the gown.

8. Get inspired by nature

When we try to re-create something found in nature, there is a delicate balance of perfection verses perfectly imperfect. We love how you can use the natural backdrop outside by incorporating its unique elements to your big day.

From the richness of the changing leaves that add vibrancy in autumn to the soft, falling snow that brings a sense of intimacy in the winter. You have endless opportunities to pull inspiration from the world outside. Think of it as a wedding gift from Mother Nature herself!

We love how Sherrie embraced the winter weather with beautiful silhouetted photos in front of a Christmas tree and among the trees surrounded by lights (swoon!). Bring outside elements indoors with evergreen boughs, winter berries and a sparkle evocative of snowflakes that captures the essence of a frosty night.
