Bridal Headpieces & Your Bride Vibe: Finding Your Match Made in Heaven
The time has come for you to find the best types of headpieces for your bridal look. And although this is a fun and exciting moment when you can personalize and style your wedding dress, it can be a little overwhelming tbh. After all, there are so many options to choose from!
As a bridal designer and stylist with over 20 years in the biz, my goal is to make your selection process a joyful and stress-free experience. When it comes to choosing your "perfect" bridal hair accessories (and other finishing touches might I add!), I'm here for you.
Take a moment to review these styling tips and I promise you'll be ready to decide what works best for you and your bride vibe.
3 Things to Consider Before You Make Your Selection
1) Your wedding style & dress
No question that the wedding hair accessories you choose will (and should) depend on the wedding vibe you create based on your own sense of personal style and your choice of wedding gown.
Modern minimalists embrace simple, understated and elegant looks, usually "nothing too fussy," while boho free-spirits have a little more wiggle room to take risks, and make choices that are more fun and whimsical.
As for glamoristas, they love high fashion and covet regal, statement looks that are "in vogue", while classic traditionalists look for timeless pieces that never go out of style.

2) Your face shape
Face shape is another key consideration for choosing the right type of bridal headpiece. If your face is oval, your options for wedding hair accessories are limitless. However, if your face is anything but oval, find your face shape and our recommendation on this list:
Round: select a headpiece designed to lengthen your face and add some height at the crown.
Long: consider a hairstyle and hair accessories that will add volume and balance to the sides of your face.
Square: think about ways to soften and frame the lines of your face with delicate headpieces and wisps of hair.
Heart-shaped: choose hair accessories that will draw the eye up, making your eyes and cheekbones the focus of attention.
3) Your hairstyle
Whether you plan to wear your bridal hair in an updo, ponytail/bun, hair down, half up or side swept, your choice hairstyle will influence the type of hair accessories you choose.
If you are undecided but feel the need to move forward with getting your headpieces ordered, we recommend selecting adornments that are versatile in nature. In fact, headpieces like stackable headbands, combs and hair pins can be mixed and matched, worn in multiples and allow for greater flexibility. They're a wonderful way to create anything from simple to statement looks.
Types of Wedding Hair Accessories
VinesVines are a hairstylist's favorite! They're flexible and can be placed on the side of the head or easily wrapped around a ponytail or bun (Jenna Pearl Vine Comb pictured on model). Note: Vines don't usually have a comb or clip that can be used to attach them to the head so your stylist will need to secure them with bobby pins. |
CrownsAlthough crowns are considered to be the most formal bridal style of headpiece, delivering all the royal wedding vibes, there are also whimsical & playful styles available. Wear with hair up, hair down or wrapped around a high bun (Spryte Wedding Tiara pictured on model). Fun fact: Our beautiful crowns are made with flexible organza wrapped headbands so they are light & comfortable to wear all night long. |
Bridal Hair Combs and PinsCombs can be nested on the hair just over the ear or placed on top of the veil comb (Jolie Comb pictured on model). Tip: Consider getting two combs, or a comb & matching pins, for either side of your hairstyle to create a more dramatic look with sparkle from every angle. |
HeadbandsHeadbands can be finished on soft silky ribbons or flexible bands. They feature just enough sparkle and have a low profile for a delicate, romantic look (Ria Crystal Spike Bridal Headband pictured on model). |
Barrettes/Hair ClipsBarrettes add subtle detail for the modern minimalist bride. Chic & low maintenance, they're perfect for an elopement or micro-wedding. Then, use them to create a more statement look for your "sequel wedding" bride style by pairing them with other hair accessories (Pear Flower Barrette Pair pictured on model). |
